How do I setup my email on an iOS device?

Step 1.

Start at your home screen, and open the "Settings". Scroll down the list and select "Mail, Contacts, and Calendars"

Step 2.

Press "Add Account..."

Step 3.

Down at the bottom of the list select the "Other" option

Step 4.

Under the Mail section, select "Add Mail Account"

Step 5.

The new account screen opens and provides you with 4 required fields.

Name - Enter your name in this field as you would like it displayed on your outbound email.

Email - This is the email address provided or setup by you in your cPanel account

Password - This is your email password given or setup by you in cPanel

Description - This will autofill normally with the domain name, but you can change this to whatever you want this to be. This is what shows up for your account name in the iOS Mail App

After you have entered all the information in press the "Next" button in the top right corner of the screen

Step 6.

This is next screen is where you will setup the type of mail account and the mail server information.

Make sure you leave IMAP selected which is default.

Now for the server settings you have 2 different options to choose from depending on how you would like to connect.

You can connect by using mail.yourdomain.com or you can connect by using the server's physical address.

We prefer and recommend you connect using Secure SSL settings, but it is not required. If you do not have an SSL certificate for your domain/website setup, you can use the shared SSL we provide for every server we have. To use the shared SSL you will have to use our server address instead of mail.yourdomain.com

Step 7.

Under "Incoming Mail Server" and "Outgoing Mail Server" you will enter the following information:

Host Name - this will be either mail.yourdomain.com or our server address which is provided to you in your cPanel account depending on if you want to use SSL or not. You can find it by going to "Email Accounts" and clicking "More" next to an email address and clicking "Configure Email Client". Listed under the Secure SSL settings is the full server address that your account is on. This server address will be the same for all email accounts setup under your cPanel account.

User Name - This is your email address that was given or setup by you in cPanel.

Password - This is your email password that was given or setup by you in cPanel.

Once you have entered the incoming and outgoing mail server information you will click "Next" at the top corner of the screen

Step 8.

Click "Next" again on the next screen that shows up leaving the 2 settings turned on.

After your account is verified you will be returned back to the Accounts page under Mail, Contacts, and Calendars.

Congratulations, you have setup your email account on your iOS device. Now you will need to make a few slight changes to correct Apple's default settings.

Step 9.

Click on the email account you just setup which should show the name you gave it.

Step 10.

Under "IMAP" click the email address account

Step 11.

Scroll down to the bottom and under "Outgoing Mail Server" click the server address next to "SMTP"

Step 12.

Click the server address again under "Primary Server"

Step 13.

Under "Outgoing Mail Server" ensure the "Use SSL" is turned on. Then you need to change the "Server Port" setting from the default of 587 to 465. After changing this, press "Done" in the top right corner to verify your changes.

If you do not want to use SSL and are using mail.yourdomain.com you will need to set the "Use SSL" option to off and the "Server Port" to 25 instead.

NOTE: After changing the Server Port it must verify the change and this can take several minutes. Please be patient while it is verified and changed.

Step 14.

Go back to the Account page and click the "Advanced"option at the bottom of the screen.

Step 15.

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and ensure that the Server Port under "Incoming Settings" is set at 993

If you do not want to use SSL and are using mail.yourdomain.com you will need to set the "Use SSL" option to off and the "Server Port" to 143 instead.

Step 16.

Now go back to the top of the page to the "Mailbox Behaviors" section. By default Apple sets it to where your iOS device saves these 3 folders on it. It's recommended to switch it so these folders are saved on the server instead so that your emails are completely synced with your mailbox and iOS device.

This step is not required, but is recommended so if something happens to your iOS device you do not lose the mail that is contained in these folders.

To change the folders, you will click each option under the "Mailbox Behaviors" one at a time.

First select the "Drafts Mailbox" then under the "On the Server" section select the "Drafts" folder. Then press the Advanced back arrow.

Then do the same for the "Sent Mailbox" and "Deleted Mailbox" as you did for the "Drafts Mailbox"

You have successfully configured your iOS device to connect to your email mailbox using IMAP. Should you have any problems please contact the support team.
